Piano Adventures:  A comprehensive piano method

I can either present separate workshops or all four over a period of two days.

Each workshop has a duration of two hours.

Creativity:  Awaken the giant within

This workshop focuses on unleashing the creativity within us. What is creativity? How can I incorporate creativity into my lessons? How do I teach improvisation and arrangement if I can’t do it myself? For the first two hours I focus on how to incorporate creativity into the lessons. For the final hour the participants get the opportunity to put the newly-gained knowledge into practice!

This workshop has a duration of three hours.

The Reading Process:  A systematic approach to master the skill of reading

There are eight levels in the development of becoming a skilled reader. The role of the analytical brain, eyes, and ears will also be discussed. The workshop will aim to explain these levels in a structured way. Many examples will be used.

This workshop has a duration of three hours.

Learning a New Piece:  The four stages of learning incorporating seven components into a holistic approach

To learn, to improve, to master, to perform…… By incorporating music theory, music history, structure, creativity, ear training, technique and practice methods, I will guide the participants through the stages of learning a new piece.

This workshop has a duration of three hours.

Practice Suggestions:  A list of effective practicing ‘tools’;  A demonstration of how to use these ‘tools’

I will provide a thorough ‘list’ of well-known and less-known practicing methods for beginner pianists to advanced pianists. I will also demonstrate practice ‘tools’ that can be used in the practice room. For the second half of the workshop I will demonstrate these methods and ‘tools’.

This workshop has a duration of three hours.

‘Requested’ Repertoire:  The Art of Interpretation

The participants are invited to send a list of works that they want to be discussed. The requested repertoire must reach me two weeks before the workshop.  I will provide a detailed description of every work, demonstrate all the technical skills needed to perform the piece with control, isolate difficult reading spots, talk about stylistic elements, and demonstrate practice suggestions.

I will have time to discuss and demonstrate 18 works (10 minutes each).
This workshop has a duration of 3 hours.
